Hangzhou International Airport set a record by handling 154,600 passengers in a single day on July 31, local media outlets reported.
The total passenger throughput for July reached 4.49 million, the most ever for the airport in a single month.
During the peak summer travel period, family trips, study tours, and vacationing were the most common types of travel. Domestic destinations like Beijing, Chengdu, and Urumqi saw consistently high demand, with occupancy rates of over 90 percent. Internationally, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, and Singapore remained popular, contributing to a daily average of 14,000 inbound and outbound passengers in July, a 56-percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Currently, the airport operates 153 passenger routes, including 33 international destinations in 20 countries on four continents, enhancing its global connectivity and supporting the busiest summer travel season on record.
