Xi'an sees steady growth in exhibition industry in H1

The exhibition industry in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, showed steady growth in the first half of this year, with various indicators on the rise, according to the Xi'an municipal bureau of commerce.

During this period, the city hosted a total of 259 exhibitions and events with 24,500 participating enterprises, resulting in 21.48 billion yuan ($2.96 billion) in trade transactions.

Xi'an was honored as one of China's top 10 exhibition cities at the 2024 China International Conference & Exhibition Industry Innovation and Development Conference.

Notable events such as the 14th China-US Tourism Leadership Summit and the 13th East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress were held in Xi'an, demonstrating its role as a vital hub for the Belt and Road Initiative.

The city also organized 16 modern industry exhibitions focusing on electronic information, artificial intelligence, aerospace, high-end equipment, and new materials. The China (Xi'an) International Mining Equipment and Technology Exhibition, covering over 70,000 square meters, attracted nearly 800 companies, leading to over 10 billion yuan in contracts.

Furthermore, Xi'an's "exhibition-driven sales" strategy proved successful with events like the Xi'an International Auto Show and various consumer expos generating a total of 6.36 billion yuan in trade. These exhibitions drew in over 3.06 million visitors, boosting local industries and contributing 9.18 billion yuan to sectors like accommodation, catering, and transportation.

Also, 38 cultural and industry-specific events were held across the city's districts, counties and development zones, attracting 3.5 million visitors and stimulating the growth of regional industries.
