Sanya Economic Circle positioned to become intl tourism destination

The Sanya Economic Circle, characterized by its strategic geographical location, abundant natural resources, and rich cultural heritage, has emerged as a key driver of high-quality development of the tourism industry in Hainan province and even nationwide.

From January to June, the Sanya Economic Circle welcomed 29.49 million visitors, representing a 9.1 percent year-on-year increase. Among them, Sanya attracted 18.16 million visitors, showing a 1.5 percent year-on-year growth.

Sanya has joined hands with the neighboring cities and counties of Wuzhishan, Lingshui Li autonomous county, Ledong Li autonomous county, and Baoting Li and Miao autonomous county to build a "friends circle" for coordinated development.

The area is home to 30 A-level tourist attractions, three tourist resorts, four national-level nighttime cultural and tourism consumption aggregation areas, one national-level tourist leisure block, three provincial-level tourist towns, and 93 provincial-level rural tourism spots.

In June, the tourism-related department of Hainan launched promotional activities in Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, with a focus on promoting the tourism of the Sanya Economic Circle.

Additionally, as part of the "Overseas Tour Operators Hainan Tour 2024" event, 400 overseas travel sellers conducted tourism exploration activities in the Sanya Economic Circle. These initiatives have increased the exposure and visibility of the Sanya Economic Circle domestically and internationally.

In November 2023, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan Province issued several measures, including supporting the construction of infrastructure, attracting major projects, strengthening tourism promotion, enriching tourism products and services, supporting the creation of cultural exchange platforms, and hosting large-scale cultural events, all aimed at promoting the prosperity of the tourism and cultural industry in the Sanya Economic Circle.
