Twelve pre-ordered "Elantra" cars arrived on time at the Turgart port in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on July 22, which is great news for Tai'an's used car export business.
The pre-ordered used cars come from a Tai'an company called Caixiang, which was established to develop the export business for second-hand cars.
In June, a Toyota Camry sedan from the company was exported to Kazakhstan via the Horgos port in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, selling for $25,200 and marking the first export of a second-hand car from Tai'an.
With the release of domestic used car export qualifications, the company, which is located in the Tai'an High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, has become the first in Tai'an to obtain export qualifications, setting a benchmark for the second-hand car export market in Tai'an.
There are currently 23 other enterprises in Tai'an interested in expanding into international markets, and more companies are expected to join their ranks in the future.
Sha Bin, marketing director of the company, said that new energy vehicles (NEVs) are very popular exports and are especially favored by countries such as Russia and those in Central Asia. In addition to NEVs, joint venture brands like Beijing Hyundai, Kia, Haval, and Chevrolet are also in high demand.
Wang Ruiling, general manager of the company, said that the company began preparing for exports in 2021, seeking overseas customers and developing target markets.
Tai'an enterprises engaged in the second-hand car export business have been supported by the government through various policies. For example, the Tai'an Bureau of Commerce works closely with enterprises to optimize the business environment, assist in completing export procedures, explore pathways for second-hand car exports, and accumulate experience.
