North China's Shanxi province has passed the "Regulations on Promoting Tourism Development in Shanxi Province", which will come into effect on Nov 1, 2024, providing solid legal support for the tourism industry's high-quality growth.
In recent years, Shanxi has been leveraging its unique resources to attract visitors from all over the world. Cultural tours, explorations of ancient architecture and natural wonders have sparked a tourism boom in the province. As a result of evolving industry patterns, market conditions, and service demands, new features and challenges have emerged in the local tourism landscape.
The new regulations, tailor-made for Shanxi's realities and prioritizing high-quality tourism development, aim to accelerate the province's transformation of cultural and tourism attractions into a true driver of progress. These regulations will also facilitate efforts to cater to people's diverse and multi-faceted tourism needs, contributing to Shanxi's ambition of becoming a beacon for tourism.
The regulations, spanning five chapters and 47 articles, cover general provisions, industry promotion, product development, service improvement and supplementary clauses. Adhering to the principle of prioritizing Shanxi's tourism development needs, the regulations are designed to propel innovation related to tourism products and business models.
Furthermore, the regulations establish norms for public services offered by government and associated departments, while calling upon tourism market players to help provide tourists with safe, convenient, efficient and intelligent services.
Wang Aiqin, director of the Culture and Tourism Department of Shanxi Province, emphasizes the importance of enhancing the accessibility of tourism, optimizing tourism infrastructure, strengthening industry supervision, and ensuring service quality. These measures, according to Wang, will drive the healthy development of the tourism market and increase satisfaction among tourists in Shanxi.
