Last week, 150 domestic and foreign doctoral students embarked on a captivating journey to the city of Yangzhou in Jiangsu province, engaging in fruitful exchanges in culture, tourism, and industry.
These students come from distinguished institutions, including China's Peking University, Zhejiang University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, as well as Harvard University, the University of Melbourne, and the National University of Singapore.
On the night of July 24, about 120 students and educators were treated to a showcase of Yangzhou's traditional arts, including folk music, puppetry, and pinghua (a traditional Chinese storytelling performance with no musical accompaniment).
On July 26, the students wandered through the antique Geyuan Garden and the iconic Slender West Lake. Some of the group went to the Mausoleum Park of Sui Emperor Yang Guang and the China Block Printing Museum of Yangzhou, gaining a deeper understanding of the city's illustrious history, rich cultural heritage, and diverse collection of historical artifacts.
Zhu Yuanhao, a doctoral candidate from Southeast University, expressed his admiration for Yangzhou, saying, "Our exploration of Yangzhou has unveiled the unique allure of this remarkable city. Given the opportunity in the future, I am willing to find jobs in Yangzhou, aspiring to contribute to this culturally wealthy city."
