The Paris Olympics are in full swing with 12 Yantai athletes competing in fencing, swimming, diving, shooting, discus, basketball, and taekwondo.
In the men's 4x100m freestyle relay preliminaries on July 27, Yantai's Ji Xinjie and his squad secured the top spot, marking China's first-ever entry into the Olympic finals for the event.
Their synchronized efforts in the finals led to a time of three minutes 11.28 seconds, earning them fourth place and Ji's best individual Olympic finish.

In the women's individual epee event on the same day, defending champion Sun Yiwen from Yantai lost 13-14 to her Japanese opponent. However, Sun will return on July 30 for the women's epee team event alongside her teammates.
This marks Sun's third Olympic journey, having previously competed in Rio and Tokyo, where she secured gold, silver, and bronze medals, becoming one of the few female epee fencers to podium in consecutive Olympics.
