The park features an area of over 10 mu (0.67 hectares) dedicated to water lilies, with more than 40,000 plants of various colors. These include 15 different varieties, showcasing not only common solid-colored water lilies but also rare and unique species, including two-colored varieties.
Water lilies are a highly-prized aquatic plant. Thriving in shallow waters, they feature long stems and large, round leaves. The flowers range from single-petal to heavily-petaled blossoms, exhibiting a wide array of colors such as red, pink, white, and yellow.
Among the water lily varieties, the two-colored water lily stands out due to its unique characteristics. These flowers showcase two distinct colors on their petals, providing a visually stunning spectacle.
According to the park staff, water lilies have a peculiar feature of opening during the day and closing at night. Therefore, the optimal viewing time is from 9 am to 3 pm.
In Nantong, the period from June to September marks the peak blooming season for water lilies. The beautiful flowers last for several months, spanning from summer to autumn, allowing visitors ample time to appreciate their splendor.
