Horinger New Area emerges as green computing powerhouse

Horinger New Area, a core zone of China Cloud Valley and a key player in the national "channeling computing resources from the east to the west" project is rapidly emerging as a green computing powerhouse.

It's widely seen to be advancing its full computing power industry supply chain – encompassing storage, manufacturing, computing, transmissions, research and applications.

The aim is for it to become a leading provider of green computing power.

In 2023, all 90 projects listed in the key project libraries of Inner Mongolia autonomous region and in Hohhot city commenced or resumed work, with actual investment topping 5.6 billion yuan ($77 million), representing nearly 41 percent growth. The area signed up 42 new industrial projects with a total investment of 66.9 billion yuan.

In the first half of the year, fixed asset investment in the Horinger New Area hit 6.56 billion yuan, reflecting over 41 percent growth. In particular, the Cloud Valley area and the Airport area saw significant investments, reinforcing Horinger's position in the national integrated computing network.

Major financial institutions, including the Bank of China and the Agricultural Bank of China, have established data centers there, making it the largest "Financial Cloud Valley" in the country.

The area hosts 38 high-tech enterprises and 36 tech-oriented SMEs, attracting numerous AI and data applications projects.

With improved business policies and a robust investment environment, the Horinger New Area is widely said to be rapidly becoming a comprehensive computing power hub, drawing in extensive upstream and downstream industries.
