To expedite the advancement of agricultural modernization, Tongzhou district in Nantong, Jiangsu province is constructing a smart farm in the demonstration zone in Jinsha sub-district.
With a total investment of 4.75 million yuan ($653,262), the smart farm is allocating around 4 million yuan to procure hardware facilities. This includes 22 sets of intelligent machinery for the entire cultivation and harvesting process, a complete set of IoT sensing devices, and high-definition monitoring equipment. The farm will feature intelligent upgrades, integrated information systems, and digitized management.
In Jindong village, located in the sub-district, a "tomato town" facility agricultural base is being established with an investment of 5 million yuan. The newly constructed interconnected smart greenhouses utilize integrated irrigation systems for water and fertilizer, along with various small-scale automated farming equipment tailored for greenhouse cultivation.
The facility will grow tomatoes developed by Yuehe Agricultural Technology Co Ltd, featuring six highly acclaimed domestic and international varieties. Each mu (0.07 hectares) can yield approximately 4,000 kilograms of tomatoes, with the potential for two harvests per year, projecting an annual profit exceeding 4 million yuan.
Furthermore, within the natural light cultivation area of the Yuanhong Wanjia smart agricultural base, cherry tomatoes showcase robust growth. These tomato varieties originate from France and the Netherlands, with around 20 kilograms produced per square meter, amounting to approximately 125,000 kilograms annually.
In recent years, the Yuanhong Wanjia smart agricultural base has integrated modern agricultural facility design, research and development, production, engineering construction, and agricultural park operation. The aim is to establish a green, ecological, efficient, and innovative modern agricultural system, transitioning from field to market with specialized agricultural production and assembly line operations, ensuring high agricultural input, output, and profitability.
