TAIPEI -- As the city of Taipei in China's Taiwan kicked off its iconic "Taipei Summer Festival" on Wednesday evening, around 66,000 people gathered at Dadaocheng Wharf to enjoy a spectacular fireworks show.
The show is the first in a series of fireworks events scheduled throughout the festival, which runs from July 17 to Aug 10. According to the schedule, a 300-second fireworks display will take place at the wharf every Wednesday evening. The final event, which coincides with Chinese Valentine's Day, will feature a 480-second fireworks display.
In addition to fireworks, the festival features music performances and lighting displays. Over 500 meters of decorative lighting and art installations have been set up along the Dadaocheng Wharf riverside, illuminating the park.
