The 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities is set to kick off in Sanya, Hainan in November, with the horse racing event having recently concluded in Zhaosu, Xinjiang.
With the horse racing event wrapped up, the stage for this edition of the games will now shift back to Sanya, Hainan. From Nov 22 to 30, in Sanya and Lingshui, around 7,000 athletes from 35 teams representing 56 ethnic groups from across the country will gather to participate in 18 competitive events and approximately 170 performance events.
One new addition to this year's games is the coconut tree climbing and racing competition, inspired by the traditional harvesting practices of various ethnic groups in Hainan.
Preparations for the event, including venues and facilities for the games, as well as logistics, volunteer services, hospitality, and security arrangements, are all complete and ready.
This sporting extravaganza promises vibrant Chinese culture through artistic performances and entertainment activities, fostering interaction, communication, and unity among different ethnic communities.
