A major milestone took place on July 16 when FAW Jiefang, a subsidiary of auto giant FAW Group – based in Changchun, capital of Jilin province – witnessed its 9 millionth truck roll off the production line, contributing to the manufacturer's total cumulative vehicle output of 60 million units.
In the first half of the year, FAW Jiefang produced 143,300 trucks, a 4.11 percent increase year-on-year, with sales rising 15.4 percent to 151,800 units.
At a ceremony to mark the production milestone, FAW Jiefang Chairman Qiu Xiandong emphasized the company's commitment to strengthening its core technologies and continuing to innovate and improve services.
Founded in 1953, FAW is a cornerstone of China's auto industry.
The first Jiefang truck rolled off the assembly line in 1956, ending China's inability to manufacture automobiles. Since then, FAW Jiefang has been a pioneer in innovation, earning numerous accolades, including the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
