E&R Engineering Ltd, funded by Taiwan-based E&R Engineering Corp, commenced operations in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area, or NETDA, on July 4.
With an investment of 150 million yuan ($20.64 million), E&R Engineering Ltd is mainly engaged in the research and development, production, and marketing of semiconductor packaging equipment.
Its parent company is worth about $445 million and has set up subsidiaries and offices in the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia. It will relocate its related businesses to the Nantong subsidiary to build a complete industrial chain of high-end equipment manufacturing.
Bao Delin, secretary of the Party working committee of NETDA, said in his speech at the launch ceremony that new-generation information technology is one of the development area's pillar industries, adding that NETDA has, in recent years, aggressively developed its high value-added integrated circuit industry.
Bao also noted that NETDA aims to offer local enterprises broader development spaces and a higher-quality business environment.
