Datong in North China's Shanxi province proved to be a popular cool haven for folks in early July, with daytime highs of around 30 C and night temperatures dropping to 15-16 C.
Hordes of tourists from southern regions, like a Mr Huang from Wuhan city in Central Hubei province, praised Datong's refreshing climate, enabling them to enjoy air conditioner-free stays.

Situated at the ideal latitude of 39-40 degrees north and surrounded by mountains, it boasts an ideal humidity of around 50 percent, lush parks and verdant wetlands.
