On July 8, the Dishui Lake (DSH) International Shipping Innovation Conference took place in Lin-gang Special Area, Shanghai. It aims to seize new opportunities to further promote digital, intelligent, and green transformations in the global shipping industry.
At the conference, several key organizations, including the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) and Lloyd's Register (LR), became members of the Green Shipping Industry Open Platform, an association in Lin-gang Special Area. Their participation will contribute to the acceleration of the green fuel supply and the improvement of the green shipping services ecosystem.
Additionally, the key laboratory of the Chemical Engineering Lin-gang Innovation Center was inaugurated. This center will focus on researching green methanol, hydrogen, ammonia, and other new green fuels, providing support for establishing domestic green energy standards and low-carbon transition pathways.
Four enterprises, including Shanghai Biobased Technology Co Ltd and Chint Group, signed agreements to establish regional headquarters or trade settlement platforms in Lin-gang, thus supporting Shanghai's efforts to create a green shipping service ecosystem.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Shanghai Environment and three companies, including CHN Energy Hydrogen Technology Co Ltd, to develop a Hydrogen-based Green Energy Trading Platform. This platform aims to facilitate the efficient allocation of hydrogen-based green energy.
The conference also saw the release of international standards and practices for digital identity authentication in shipping. The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF), a non-profit organization that provides technical infrastructure for global entity identification, announced its plan to establish its China headquarters in Lin-gang.
Additionally, the first trustworthy digital identity network product was launched, offering practical standards for identity verification in international shipping and cross-border trade.
At the conference, Lin-gang Special Area announced the formation of the Global Partners for Seaborne Trade Digitalization Program. This program will promote the use of electronic bills of lading, dangerous goods transport certification, carbon footprint verification, electronic manifests, origin tracing, and supply chain financing in order to enhance trade liberalization and facilitation. Global partners include GSBN, ICC DSI, GLEIF, CFCA, and notable shippers and financial institutions such as Tesla, Bank of China, and Standard Chartered Bank.
