The 4th China Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation was held in Nyingchi, Xizang autonomous region, this week.
Hosted by the Xizang government and co-hosted by the foreign affairs office of the regional government and the people's government of the region's Nyingchi city, the forum was organized in the Lunang township of Nyingchi, which is some 400 kilometers from the regional capital Lhasa.
The event invited guests, including officials, ambassadors, journalists, scholars and domestic and international experts from more than 20 countries and regions, including Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bolivia, Myanmar, Bhutan, and South Korea to discuss cooperation with China on deepening ecological cooperation, strengthening development cooperation, promoting cultural exchanges, and the development prospects and paths of the Himalayan region.
This forum included a series of diverse and colorful activities, such as the opening ceremony, keynote forum, ecological cultural tourism roundtable meeting, traditional medicine roundtable meeting, highland characteristic agriculture, animal husbandry roundtable meeting, and more.
With the theme of promoting harmony between human and nature and sharing the results of cooperation and development, the forum focused on wide-ranging and in-depth exchanges were conducted on cooperation matters related to ecological environment, development cooperation, cultural exchanges, international affairs.
Latest official statistics show that Xizang has established trade relations with 175 countries and regions. In 2023, the region's import and export trade volume increased by 138 percent, and it received over 55 million domestic and foreign tourist visits in 2023.
