The 6th Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) is set to take place in Sanya from Dec 4 to 10. On July 4, the festival organizing committee issued a global call for entries.
The submission deadline is Sept 20. Films applying for the "Golden Coconut Award" competition and screening units can register through the official website.
Co-hosted by China Central Television and the People's Government of Hainan Province, the 6th HIIFF aims to strengthen international film cultural exchanges and cooperation, support the growth of young filmmakers, and promote the development of the film industry.
The festival's competition unit consists of three categories: feature films, documentary films, and short films. Each category is set to select the grand jury prize, as well as the best film, director, actor, screenplay, visual effects, Chinese-language contribution, documentary, and short film awards, totaling 10 awards.
This edition of the festival is expected to screen outstanding films from China and abroad in cooperating cinemas and create outdoor screening events. In addition to targeted invitations, the screening unit will be open for independent submissions to attract more high-quality works.
