After over three years of construction, Yantai Penglai International Airport's T2 terminal was officially put into operation on June 28. This state-of-the-art terminal is designed to accommodate 23 million passengers annually and handle 200,000 metric tons of cargo and mail.
Serving as a gateway showcasing the city's image, the terminal integrates Yantai's mountains and seas into its design. With approximately 172,000 square meters of floor area, it is twice the size of the T1 terminal, with three above-ground levels and one underground level.
Beyond its visual appeal, the terminal boasts impressive technology. With 91 sets of self-service equipment, passengers can complete check-in procedures and check in their bags entirely on their own. Moreover, the terminal is equipped with pre-security checkpoint gates, millimeter-wave security doors, and an automated baggage return system, all aimed at enhancing security efficiency.

"The T2 terminal incorporates intelligent building technology, energy-efficient low-radiation glass curtain walls, variable-frequency air conditioning systems, and energy-efficient lighting, making full use of natural lighting, natural ventilation, and vertical greening to achieve energy savings in construction, air conditioning, and lighting," said an airport staff member.
Travelers can look forward to a more varied commercial experience here, as the terminal offers shopping, dining, cultural experiences, and business displays, even featuring a dedicated area showcasing Yantai's renowned wines.
