According to a news conference held on July 2, in the second quarter of 2024, the output value of the green and low-carbon industries in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, exceeded 140 billion yuan ($19.26 billion), accounting for over 30 percent of total industrial output.
The area has established 32 green factories, two green industrial parks, three enterprises specializing in green design products, and five enterprises managing green supply chains.
In the second quarter, Liangjiang adjusted and formulated a "natural environment access list." This initiative focused on reducing pollution, reducing carbon emissions, improving tributary water quality, and enhancing risk prevention and control systems, proposing 19 overall control measures and 52 specific control requirements.
Furthermore, Liangjinag has accelerated the integrated development of science, technology, and industry. The proportion of the high-tech manufacturing industry output value reached 41 percent, nurturing a total of 416 technologically-advanced enterprises.
It has built 107 digital workshops, 22 intelligent factories, and 164 municipal-level enterprise technology centers. Companies like Shanwaishan, Xishan, and Conquer are quoted on the stock exchange.
While advancing green and low-carbon industrial development, Liangjiang has also improved its industrial development capabilities. The automotive industry has developed capabilities in new energy vehicle systems and core software and hardware for intelligent connected vehicles, with its new energy vehicle production accounting for over 70 percent of Chongqing's total.
Clusters of intelligent manufacturing enterprises, represented by precision manufacturing and 3D printing, have formed, and the hydrogen energy industrial chain is taking shape. The development of new energy and new energy storage industries is rapid, while the energy conservation and environmental protection industries are making steady progress.
