China has had more than 900 million online shopping users, with many interested in buying "green products", a report issued by the China Internet Network Information Center said on Friday.
The report showed that, in the most recent six months, about 25 percent of the total of online consumers have bought energy-saving goods, revealing that new energy vehicles have become an important growth engine.
It said that internet users who purchased smart home appliances has accounted for 25 percent of the total, as the products could better meet the needs of people for a safer, easier, healthier, low-carbon and energy-saving life.
In addition, with people paying more attention to health, relevant products have been increasingly welcomed by consumers on the internet, promoting innovation in health-related technologies at the same time, it added.
In the age of digital consumption, the younger generation is the main force, with over 88 percent born after 2000, it said, adding that domestic and smart products are popular among the young consumers.
Furthermore, the number of consumers aged over 60 has been rising, focusing more on the purchase of healthcare and travel products, it said.
