Tour operator Tongcheng Travel on June 24 released the "2024 Summer Travel Trends Report," revealing that since June, railway and civil aviation passenger volumes in major cities across the country have been rapidly increasing.
Cities like Urumqi, Harbin, Lhasa, and Guiyang have emerged as popular destinations for summer retreats this season.
Destinations that have seen a significant rise in popularity since last summer include Qingdao, Nanjing, Harbin, Sanya, Urumqi, and Shenyang.
With high temperatures prevailing in many regions this summer, the summer retreat market has kicked off early. Starting from mid-June, regions like Guizhou, Xinjiang, Xizang, Qinghai, Heilongjiang, and Jilin, known for their cool summer vacation spots, have witnessed a rapid surge in popularity.
Harbin, with its rich array of attractions and distinctive historical and cultural significance, appeals to visitors of all ages.
On various social and group-buying platforms, many tourists who have visited Harbin are expressing their love for the city through notes and posts, praising the city for its abundance of activities and the blend of Chinese and Russian cultural ambiance.
"I plan to take my whole family to Harbin in July. I want to visit the indoor ice and snow world," said Ms Guo from Shanghai, who recently heard about the opening of the Harbin Ice and Snow World Dreamlike Ice and Snow Pavilion.
She expressed her excitement, saying she missed Harbin's ice and snow during winter, making the opening of the Dreamlike Ice and Snow Pavilion a dream come true for her and her family.
