A vibrant display of artistic talent unfolded in Beijing on Tuesday as the 2024 Artistic Prosperity: Cross-Strait Youth Artists Exhibition opened its doors at the prestigious Taiwan Guild Hall. Organized by the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots and hosted by its Beijing branch, the exhibition serves as a platform for cultural exchange and fostering connections between young artists from Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
The exhibition boasts an impressive lineup, featuring established figures like Professor Ma Lu, former dean of the Central Academy of Fine Arts' School of Design. These esteemed individuals share the spotlight with 16 young artists from Taiwan and 8 artists from the mainland. Their creative energies combine to present a captivating array of 73 artworks, encompassing diverse mediums such as paper-cutting, carving, ceramics, and murals.
The event served more than just an artistic showcase. All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots Vice-President Bai Tianliang delivered a speech emphasizing the organization's dedication to strengthening unity and camaraderie between compatriots across the Taiwan Strait. He highlighted the importance of cultural exchange in fostering mutual understanding, trust, and appreciation for the shared heritage of China, encompassing both traditional and contemporary art forms.
Chen Chia-ching, a Taiwan artist pursuing a master's degree at Xiamen University, shared her experience. She expressed how witnessing the rapid development of the mainland during her studies has instilled a sense of confidence in her decision to continue pursuing her artistic endeavors there. Chen looks forward to collaborating with more young people from both sides of the strait, emphasizing the collective responsibility to contribute to the historic cause of national rejuvenation and reunification.
