Picturesque scenery of the Historical Block of Former Residence of the Sage of Calligraphy

In summer, visitors flock to the Historical Block of the Former Residence of the Sage of Calligraphy in Shaoxing, Jiangsu province, weaving through black-awning boats amid the white walls and black tiles of Jiangnan-style folk houses. The Historical Block of the Former Residence of the Sage of Calligraphy has been best preserved. It is home to famous Shaoxing figures who have influenced the course of Chinese culture, such as Wang Xizhi (321-379), the Sage of Calligraphy, and Cai Yuanpei (1868-1940), the academic giant.
