On June 6, a river tern, a national first-class protected wild animal that was rescued and bred, was successfully released into the wild along the Daying River in Yingjiang county, Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province. The river tern is a summer migratory bird that breeds in the narrow area of Daying River from December to July each year. This area is currently the only habitat for river terns in China. The species is also one of the rarest birds in China, with the number of individuals returning each year being in the single digits in recent years.
