Sanya to hold durian industry conference

From July 19 to 21, the 2024 Durian Industry Conference is scheduled to take place in Sanya. The conference aims to gather scholars, entrepreneurs, and government officials from home and abroad to exchange ideas on the development trends, technological innovations, and market opportunities within the durian industry.

In recent years, Sanya has introduced and improved multiple outstanding durian varieties. The total durian planting area in Hainan province now exceeds 30,000 mu (2,000 hectares), indicating rapid growth in both fruit-bearing areas and overall production.

As the primary region for durian cultivation, ASEAN countries exhibit an extensive planting scale. With the deepening trade and exchanges between China and ASEAN countries, new development opportunities are emerging for the durian industry.

During the conference, the establishment ceremony of the "China-ASEAN Durian Technology Innovation Alliance" is set to take place, aiming to enhance international exchanges and cooperation in the industry.

Keynote speeches are poised to be delivered by representatives from countries including China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, and Indonesia.

Events such as the unveiling ceremony of the Durian Research Institute, the establishment ceremony of the "Sanya Office of the World Durian Trade Center", as well as the Sanya Durian Brand Promotion and Launch Ceremony will also be held during the conference.

Furthermore, the conference is expected to organize field trips for attendees to visit durian planting bases and sales markets in Sanya, allowing them to taste fresh durian fruits and products on-site.
