In an effort to support gig workers, Tongzhou district in Nantong, Jiangsu province hosted a job fair on June 18, featuring around 30 key companies facing labor shortages across various industries, such as automotive manufacturing, household textiles, high-tech materials, and electronics.
The job fair offered positions in new media promotion, tech research and development, e-commerce services, and administration, with a total demand for 2,435 workers.
Among the companies present was Nantong Prime Aviation Services Co, which sought to hire local professionals for roles in air freight exports. They hope to hire five to 10 individuals and will provide specialized training upon recruitment.
According to Xing Lishui, head of air freight operations at Prime Aviation Services, the fair attracted a mix of local and out-of-town jobseekers, including many talented individuals expressing interest in available positions.
This initiative is part of Tongzhou's efforts to boost employment. In the first half of this year, the district leveraged platforms like the labor market and gig economy market, along with physical venues and smart employment solutions, to organize various themed job fairs. These efforts have connected numerous jobseekers with their desired positions.
