On June 16, Loong Air's flight GJ8937, carrying 139 passengers, took off from Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, heading directly to Samarkand, the second largest city in Uzbekistan.
This marked the first direct flight from Xi'an to Samarkand and the seventh international flight connecting Xi'an to Central Asia.
The flight operates on Wednesdays and Sundays, departing from Xi'an at 9:40 am Beijing time and arriving in Samarkand at 12:35 pm local time. The return flight, GJ8938, departs from Samarkand at 1:35 pm local time and lands in Xi'an at 9:20 pm Beijing time.
The flight will further strengthen Xi'an's international aviation hub status, enhancing economic and trade exchanges between Shaanxi province and Central Asian countries.
It will provide robust support for the development of Xi'an into an international aviation hub and a hub for national logistics, contributing significantly to the smooth operation of the international trade corridor of the Belt and Road Initiative in Shaanxi.
