Suzhou's holiday sales soar to 672 million yuan

The Dragon Boat Festival, a cherished and ancient tradition, was celebrated with grandeur and charm, particularly in Suzhou, according to local media on June 11.

According to official statistics, by June 10, Suzhou had welcomed 5.319 million tourists during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, marking a 33.9 percent increase year-on-year.

The city saw diverse cultural activities and bustling tourism commerce, maintaining a high level of market activity. Crowds thronged various venues.

During the festival, Suzhou launched a series of events under the theme "Enjoy Shopping in Suzhou", combining the Dragon Boat Festival and the summer consumption season. These initiatives successfully fostered a robust consumer environment, further boosting local spending enthusiasm.

Major commercial districts and supermarkets across the city rolled out various discounts and special promotions. Monitoring data indicates that 100 key commercial enterprises in Suzhou are projected to achieve retail sales of 672 million yuan ($92.4 million) during the Dragon Boat Festival period, representing a 12.1 percent year-on-year growth.
