The Jilin Tourism Development Conference opened on June 13 and runs to June 16 in scenic Changbai Mountain, located in Northeast China's Jilin province – with the promise of a major contribution to the region's tourism sector.
The event is seen as being critical to implementing Jilin's master plan to boost its tourism industry to an annual output level of 1 trillion yuan ($138 billion) – with the overall aim to boost the region's cultural and tourism sectors.
In its aftermath, the conference is expected to help improve operational mechanisms, improve the overall quality of services and elevate the region's brand image – promoting high-quality tourism development across Jilin province.
A highlight is the debut performance of the stage play the Legend of Powder Snow – showcasing Jilin's cultural values and ice-snow heritage, featuring scenes from Changbai Mountain's Tianchi Lake.
The conference agenda includes province-wide tourism development meetings and a Jilin tourism promotions session.
It also features the release of key tourism plans: the Greater Changbai Mountain Regional Tourism Development Plan, the Songhua River Basin (Jilin section) Tourism Plan and the Jilin Border Tourism Corridor Development Plan.
Additional activities include cultural tourism marketing campaigns, exhibitions and contests – aiming to foster cooperation, attract investment and enhance Jilin's tourism sector.
