Inbound travel orders to Sanya surged by 77 percent during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 8 to 10, compared to the same period last year, local media outlets reported on June 11.
This year, the Dragon Boat Festival holiday coincided with World Ocean Day on June 8, enhancing the festive atmosphere in Sanya. To create a pleasant tourism experience, the Tianya Haijiao scenic area hosted marine-themed educational activities, attracting numerous families with children.
This event offered visitors an opportunity to explore oceanic wonders and brought fresh highlights to Sanya's marine science education initiatives. In the first two days of the holiday, the visitor flow at the scenic area rose by 23.15 percent compared to the previous month.
On the evening of June 7, a traditional Dragon Boat Festival folk cultural activity kicked off at Dadonghai Square. Local residents, tourists, and foreign friends from Russia gathered to engage in cultural activities such as making zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), crafting sachets, and painting fans.
Furthermore, short-distance self-driving trips during the Dragon Boat Festival remained popular. According to the Ctrip report, Sanya, along with Chengdu in Sichuan province and Urumqi in Xinjiang, ranked among the top 10 destinations for self-driving trips during the festival.
A Sanya official highlighted the city's commitment to innovative marketing and promotional strategies. By developing high-quality island study tour products, Sanya aims to showcase its unique historical culture and marine charm from multiple perspectives, attracting more domestic and international tourists for educational tours.
