To advance industry-academia-research integration, a total of 11 institutions in China were granted status as national postdoctoral research workstations, with three based in Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City in Sanya.
The selected organizations are the National Saline-alkaline Tolerance Rice Technology Innovation Center, the Sanya Tropical Fisheries Research Institute, and the Sanya Institute of China Agricultural University.
Established in Sanya in 2022, the National Saline-Alkaline Tolerance Rice Technology Innovation Center, a pioneering agricultural technology hub, has endorsed 11 rice varieties with a potential yield of up to 580.06 kilograms per mu (0.07 hectare).
The center developed new strains that have become the main crops in southern saline-alkali lands while bolstering industrial growth through field demonstrations and enhanced research infrastructure.
Established in 2019, the Sanya Tropical Fisheries Research Institute, with experimental bases in Hongtang Bay and Lingshui village, has led over 300 national, ministerial, and provincial research initiatives, receiving more than 40 awards.
The Sanya Institute of China Agricultural University, founded in March 2020, engages in and bolsters the development of the Hainan Free Trade Zone and Nanfan Agricultural Silicon Valley, spearheading educational and research work for the university.
