China FAW Group Import and Export Co signed an authorization agreement on June 1 with Motor Gruppen – based in the city of Drammen in Norway – which grants the latter the rights to sell Hongqi's new energy models, the EH7 and EHS7, in the Scandinavian country.
It's expected that this will pave the way for the models to enter the European market and automaker China FAW Group Co – based in Changchun, capital of Northeast Jilin province – is bullish about the prospects.
Overseas business advisor, Hu Hanjie, highlighted the critical role of support from Jilin province and Changchun city in Hongqi's development.
He emphasized that the agreement with a prominent Norwegian dealer was a significant step in expanding Hongqi's presence in Europe and enhancing its brand recognition.
Hu expressed confidence that the EH7 and EHS7, with their superior quality, would bring new excitement to European customers and drive the way forwards for mutual success with global partners.
In the presence of both parties, Yang Dayong, general manager of China FAW's Overseas Division and chairman of China FAW Group Import and Export Co, signed the agreement, officially authorizing the sale and service of EH7 and EHS7 in Norway.
The EH7, a premium electric sedan, was launched in March 2024, while the EHS7, Hongqi's first mid-to-large electric SUV, debuted at the Beijing International Auto Show. With this agreement, the countdown to the European launch of these models has begun.
It's hoped the EH7 and EHS7 cars will win the hearts of Norwegian consumers with their outstanding features, showcasing the brand's luxurious heritage. The partnership marks a significant milestone in Hongqi's global strategy, aimed at establishing a strong foothold in Europe.
