As night falls, the lights of Zhongnanmen Ancient City on Zhongshan Road in Tongren city, Guizhou province, dazzle and attract many tourists and residents. Covering over 36,000 square meters, the ancient city features well-preserved buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) and the Republic of China period (1912-49), including courtyards, ancient alleys, patios, and fire walls with surname tiles marking property boundaries. These structures reflect Tongren's historical and economic development from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the Republic of China period.
