A signing ceremony was held on May 28 in Brazil – marking a significant milestone – with CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co inking a major contract to export 24 metro trains to the city of Belo Horizonte, capital of the state of Minas Gerais.

The event was presided over by Minas Gerais Governor Romeu Zema, CRRC Corporation Chairman Sun Yongcai and Chinese Consul General in Rio de Janeiro, Tian Min.

The supply agreement, which represents the first deployment of Chinese metro trains in Belo Horizonte, will provide intelligent transportation solutions for the city's residents.

Belo Horizonte, as capital of Minas Gerais, serves as the state's political, economic and cultural hub. The 24 metro trains, capable of automatic driving and reaching speeds of 80 kilometers per hour, will operate on the city's Line 1 and the under-construction Line 2, helping to alleviate traffic congestion.

The design team at CRRC Changchun, leveraging a mature and reliable vehicles platform, tailored the trains to meet the technical and operational needs of the Belo Horizonte metro.

Emphasizing safety, reliability, comfort and maintainability throughout the lifecycles of the trains, the design incorporates advanced intelligent and energy-efficient features to provide a customized solution for local transit.

CRRC Changchun has been active in Brazil's rail transit sector, contributing to smart city development there with Chinese solutions.

The group's rail vehicles have serviced major international events such as the FIFA World Cup and the Rio Olympics – offering economical, convenient and efficient travel options for Brazilian citizens and tourists.

The signing of the export contract is expected to enhance Belo Horizonte's rail transit services and strengthen practical cooperation between China and Brazil.
