Electric car brand smart Automobile, a joint venture between Mercedes and Geely, saw its 100,000th vehicle roll off the assembly line of its plant in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, on Tuesday.
It took the brand merely 20 months to reach the milestone, since the first vehicle, a smart #1 was delivered in September 2022.
Tong Xiangbei, CEO of smart, said the milestone marks an all-new stage for the five-year old joint venture's fast and steady development.
With China and Europe as two of its most important markets, the carmaker has solidified its presence in 27 countries and regions around the world.
Earlier this week, the brand announced that its models are scheduled to be launched in Australia in the third quarter this year, in collaboration with its long-time dealer partner LSH Auto.
