Recently, star Iraqi food vlogger Ahmed Mohammed Jaber Alkalthoom – widely known in social media as "Laowang in China" – ventured into Alshaa League, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, for a one-day tour of the stunning Tengger Desert.
Living in China since 2014, Ahmed has garnered nearly 15 million followers across social media platforms with his engaging short videos.
Laowang's first stop was Swan Lake. Surprised to find a lake in the desert, he marveled at the picturesque natural scenery.
Located on the eastern edge of the Tengger Desert, the 4A-level tourist Swan Lake Scenic Area boasts around 80 natural desert lakes, offering breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural history.
Next, he visited Jade Lake. This freshwater lake, surrounded by sandy dunes, has a serene green hue. Lying on the soft sand, Laowang found it a perfect spot to relax and rejuvenate.

His third stop was Wulan Lake. Known locally as "Red Sea," this heart-shaped lake changes color with varying water levels and temperatures, offering a unique visual experience with each visit.
The fourth stop was Camel Lake, often referred to as the "Pink Realm of the Desert." Its pink waters, which change with the seasons, attract numerous visitors for photography and sightseeing.
The final stop was a culinary delight. After a long day of exploration, Laowang savored traditional Mongolian cuisine, featuring the renowned Alshaa roasted whole lamb, an item of national intangible cultural heritage.
This dish, known for its exquisite taste and cultural significance, was the perfect end to an adventurous day.
