Liaocheng, Shandong province, and Uiryeong, South Korea, jointly held the unveiling ceremony of the Nishan House bookshop in Uiryeong on May 22.
This is the second Nishan House bookshop established by Liaocheng in South Korea. The bookshop is equipped with a diverse collection of literature in both Chinese and English, as well as Chinese and Korean bilingual books. It will regularly exhibit distinctive cultural products from Liaocheng, including Guanxian county's paper-cutting works, Linqing's dough sculptures, and woodblock New Year paintings.
Prior to the event, representatives from Liaocheng presented the Uiryeong government with special handmade products as a token of friendship.
Both sides discussed the construction of the bookshop, cultural exchanges, tourism promotion, and media cooperation activities.
Since establishing a friendly city relationship in June 2001, Liaocheng and Uiryeong have conducted multiple visits and implemented various multi-level exchange activities in a variety of fields, including youth, sports, education, and cultural tourism.
Moving forward, Liaocheng will leverage the Nishan House bookshop as a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual learning between China and South Korea. The city aims to continuously strengthen cultural exchanges between the two localities, giving Uiryeong residents a deeper understanding of Liaocheng and promoting cultural dissemination and cooperation between the two sides.
