Wuxi teenager receives award from president of Republika Srpska

Lu Yi, a teenager from Wuxi, Jiangsu province, received a special contribution award from Milorad Dodik, president of Republika Srpska, during an international children's music festival held in Banja Luka, capital city of the Republika Srpska, from May 15 to 18.

Lu also won the Best Singer Award at the festival with her original song, We Are the Future.

With a history of 30 years, the children's music festival is an international event, welcoming 24 contestants from around the world this year. This is the first time that a Chinese child has attended the event.

After the festival, Miao Dake, charge d'affaires ad interim at the Chinese Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, met with Lu, her mother, and her teacher. Miao encouraged Lu to serve as a "little envoy" of Chinese culture.

A fourth-grader at the Lianyuanjie Primary School in Wuxi, Lu was recommended in late 2023 by the Chinese Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina to sign up for the event.
