The Sanya tourism board, a member of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), participated in the PATA Annual Summit 2024 (PAS2024) in Macao from May 15 to 17.

Extensive discussions with global tourism industry representatives to enhance international cooperation opportunities were carried out during the event.

Established in 1951, the PATA serves as one of the top three global tourism organizations, fostering international collaboration among island tourism cities and playing a crucial role in advancing global tourism development.

The summit has provided a valuable platform for Sanya, facilitating meaningful interactions with international tourism experts. This allowed Sanya to showcase its expertise in managing tropical coastal cities, attract international interest, and expedite the development of an international tourism resort.

Ye Jialin, director of Sanya tourism board, emphasized the significance of inbound tourism in showcasing a country's soft power, international appeal, and tourism competitiveness. It plays a crucial role in enhancing a country's image, promoting the export of its culture, and creating international trade opportunities.

Ye added that, to boost China's inbound tourism sector, Sanya plans to leverage its unique cultural assets, tailor tourism products to local characteristics, enhance overseas marketing efforts, expand global tourism partnerships, and attract more international tourists.
