4 GBA projects to be built in OVC

On May 18, the 2024 Wuhan New-generation Information Technology (IT) Investment Promotion Conference was held in Shenzhen.

The conference attracted key enterprises from Wuhan's new-generation IT industrial chain, including TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology (TCL CSOT), BOE, and Skyworth. During the event, 38 projects were signed into effect, with a total investment of 54.82 billion yuan ($7.73 billion) and focusing on digital economy, IT, sci-tech R&D, and software services.

The East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) signed four projects with a total value of approximately 14.05 billion yuan. In recent years, Wuhan has been focusing on new-generation IT, vigorously promoting key sectors such as optoelectronic information and AI.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) is an important investment source and industrial collaborator for Wuhan. Under the new development model, a group of entrepreneurs from the Greater Bay Area are optimistic about Wuhan's prospects.

"We have already established a mass production line for printed OLEDs in Wuhan, with related products to be launched by the end of this year," revealed Zhang Feng, senior vice president of TCL CSOT. This will fill the company's capacity gap in high-end IT and high-end specialized display markets with high growth potential.
