The number of labor disputes handled by a Beijing court has remained high over the past four years, indicating that employment conflicts are still prominent.
Data released by the Beijing Haidian District People's Court showed on Thursday that from 2020 to 2023 it tackled more than 3,000 labor cases every year and the figure exceeded 6,000 in 2021.
Among the cases, many involved internet industry, as the district is home of internet and technology enterprises, the court said, adding that labor disputes regarding emerging businesses, such as express delivery, livestreaming and car-hailing service, have also been frequent to see.
To efficiently solve the cases and alleviate the labor conflicts from the root, the court has taken various measures.
For instance, "we've established a coordination and collaboration system with the district's government agencies on labor union, justice, human resources and employment to strengthen information sharing," said Ma Qianli, chief judge of the court's labor adjudication tribunal.
"In this way, we can help struggling enterprises deal with restructure or bankruptcy, with legal aids for employees in place, in a timely manner," he explained.
In addition, the court has formulated and issued a guide to help individuals or departments solve labor conflicts through mediation or negotiation on their own in line with previous rulings.
With disclosure of influential labor cases, the court also pledged to ensure harmony between employers and employees, as well as to promote high-quality economic development by advancing the rule of law.
