Shanxi charts a path to high-quality development and transformation

Focusing on high-quality development and comprehensive transformation, Jin Xiangjun, governor of Shanxi province, shared the recent high-quality development achievements of North China's Shanxi province and answered questions from reporters at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office in Beijing on May 15.

Jin stated that the purpose of promoting high-quality development and deepening comprehensive transformation is to continuously realize the people's aspirations for a better life. Focusing on promoting the all-round development of individuals and common prosperity, the province allocated over 80 percent of its fiscal expenditures to people's livelihoods.

Specifically, Shanxi prioritized new-type industrialization and advanced manufacturing, expanding 16 provincial-level key industrial chains, cultivating 18 provincial-level characteristic professional towns, and creating 79 high-quality Shanxi products.

Meanwhile, the province made new breakthroughs in the development of a market-oriented, legal, and internationalized first-class business environment by simplifying the approval process and providing efficient government services.

In addition, the province strove to better protect and manage its rivers, lakes, and mountains, with the average concentration of PM2.5 decreasing to 37 micrograms/cubic meter and the populations of wildlife significantly increasing. Shanxi's natural environment has thus been significantly improved.

Questions raised by reporters regarding scientific and technological innovation, the development of high-quality agriculture, green and low-carbon energy transformation, the environmental protection of the Yellow River Basin, the optimization of the business environment, the integrated development of culture and tourism, and the development of traditional Chinese medicine were also answered at the press conference.
