The total value of Jinan's imports and exports reached 65.26 billion yuan ($9.02 billion) from January to April, increasing 1.9 percent year-on-year.
Exports were valued at 44.96 billion yuan, an increase of 12.1 percent year-on-year, while imports amounted to 20.3 billion yuan, a decrease of 15.1 percent year-on-year.
Jinan's general trade imports and exports during the same time period were valued at 59.46 billion yuan, a growth of 8.8 percent year-on-year and accounting for 91.1 percent of the city's total foreign trade.
The imports and exports of private enterprises were valued at 42.99 billion yuan, up 11.8 percent year-on-year.
Jinan's trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the European Union, Latin America, Africa, and the United States amounted to 14.02 billion yuan, 7.29 billion yuan, 7.17 billion yuan, 7.14 billion yuan, and 4.72 billion yuan, respectively, up 1.7 percent, 17.6 percent, 13.3 percent, 26.6 percent, and 10.8 percent year-on-year.
Additionally, trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative recorded an increase of 6.7 percent to 38.14 billion yuan, and that with other members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership grew 6.3 percent to 22.67 billion yuan.
Exports of mechanical and electrical products were valued at 29.23 billion yuan, accounting for 65 percent of the city's total exports, while agricultural product exports amounted to 2.79 billion yuan. Imports of mechanical and electrical products dropped 26.7 percent year-on-year to 7.69 billion yuan, while agricultural product imports decreased by 29.2 percent year-on-year to 2.46 billion yuan.
