A stranded dolphin was rescued in the shallows near the Maotai Resort in Sanya's Haitang Bay on May 11.
Sanya's coast guard bureau responded to a call that morning, reporting there was a dolphin stranded in an area with shallow water and abundant reefs, which were preventing it from returning to the sea.
Upon reaching the location, officials discovered a young dolphin less than 2 meters in length, stuck in the water and only half submerged.
The dolphin's mouth showed signs of injury and it was unable to swim independently. Following guidance from on-site experts, officials carefully relocated the dolphin to the shore, where they covered it with a wet towel and administered cooling water.
If tourists observe injured or otherwise struggling marine wildlife, please call the maritime emergency hotline number at 95110 or contact professionals for assistance.
