The initial phase of Hangzhou Qiantang Bay Wetland Park was nearly complete as of May 13 and is expected to open in early June.
The initial phase spans about 6 hectares, from the secondary seawall emergency river to the primary seawall, establishing the park's preliminary look.
Located at the Qiantang River estuary in Hangzhou Bay, the park's total planned area is 4,406.99 hectares, nearly four times the size of the Xixi Wetland National Park. With a wetland area of 4,387.40 hectares and a wetland coverage rate of 99.56 percent, it serves as a habitat for over 140 bird species.
Qiantang district plans to enhance the park's ecological, scientific, and recreational functions through specialized projects focusing on the protection of wetland resources, scientific education, research monitoring, and sustainable use.
