A mesmerizing spectacle of migratory birds has taken flight at the Yanchiwan National Nature Reserve Wetland in Subei Mongolian autonomous county, Jiuquan, Gansu province. Flocks of bar-headed goose (Anser fabalis) have congregated on small islands diligently incubating their hatchlings.

According to local experts, bar-headed geese typically select high-altitude lakes, central islands, cliff faces, and marshes for breeding purposes. Their incubation period generally spans 28 to 30 days.

In recent years, concerted efforts by local authorities and the Gansu Yinchichwan National Nature Reserve have created a favorable habitat for the proliferation of various rare migratory birds. Consequently, the diversity and abundance of bird species thriving in this haven have witnessed a steady increase.
