Chint Electric, a distinguished enterprise from Wenzhou, recently participated in the 6th WCO Global AEO Conference in Shenzhen, Guangzhou. The company stood out as the only representative from Wenzhou's 19 AEO-certified companies at this milestone event, hosted for the first time in China.
The Authorized Economic Operator program is a strategic initiative by the World Customs Organization to bolster global supply chain security and facilitate trade. It grants certified businesses with high creditworthiness and safety standards preferential treatment, such as faster customs clearance and fewer inspections, enhancing their international trade capabilities.
Under the leadership of President Zhang Zhichuan, Chint Electric pursued AEO certification as part of its global expansion strategy. The certification has propelled the company's growth, fostering partnerships with top new energy developers and reaching an impressive export value of 1.7 billion yuan ($234 million) last year. Chint's AEO status also earned it priority access to the World Customs Organization's advisory group and customs reform projects.
Wenzhou Customs supports local AEO firms with measures like priority clearance and testing, aiding their quality growth abroad. In the first four months of this year, the import and export volume of 19 AEO enterprises in Wenzhou reached 9.61 billion yuan, accounting for more than 10 percent of Wenzhou's total.
The Global AEO Conference is the World Customs Organization's largest capacity-building event, attracting over 1,200 delegates from more than 100 countries. It serves as a platform for customs, international organizations, AEO enterprises, and various stakeholders to collaborate and share insights on enhancing global trade practices.
