The China Rural Special Technology Association recently issued a list of the "Most Beautiful Science and Technology Backyards", with the Stachys Affinis Science and Technology Backyard in Tumd Right Banner of Baotou city, among the honored recipients.
The Stachys Affinis Science and Technology Backyard is staffed by chief experts and dedicated teams from Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, with 21 graduate students participating in the backyard's work.
The Stachys Affinis Science and Technology Backyard focuses on improving the entire stachys affinis industry chain, including the screening of germplasm resources, planting techniques and field management, as well as the deep processing of food.
The backyard has actively explored new pathways for the development of characteristic industries, paving the way for a development model that emphasizes cooperation with village collectives, enterprises, farmers, and colleges, which will increase villagers' incomes.
The Stachys Affinis Science and Technology Backyard has imported germplasm resources from 12 regions across China, including Yinchuan city in Gansu province, and Chongqing municipality, thus establishing a germplasm resource library for stachys affinis. It has also developed five new types of pickled stachys affinis sauces.
