On May 7, the UC Berkeley Alumni Event was held at the Optics Valley Tien Chang-lin Center.
This activity, supported by the Party work committee of the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) and the Wuhan Optics Valley Talent Group, saw the attendance of Xie Hongxue, president of the UC Berkeley Wuhan Alumni Association, as well as professors from various universities, such as Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University, China University of Geosciences, Huazhong Agricultural University, and Hubei University.
During the event, Peng Guohua, chairman of the Optics Valley Tien Chang-lin Center, addressed the attendees. He first reviewed the life of Tien Chang-lin, the seventh chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley, as well as his deep affection for his home country, China. This speech highlighted that Tian was not only an outstanding scientist and educator, but also a patriot with a profound love for his country.
The attending alumni spoke one after another, expressing their admiration and fond memories of Tian. They stated that they would uphold Tian's aspirations and contribute their efforts to the prosperity and development of the OVC.
During the event, Wu Zeqiang, chairman of the UC Berkeley Chinese Students' Association, sent a video message from the United States.
